Venus Rising is a one-of-a-kind event that includes fine art, performance artists, small business vendors, crafters, designers, and all other facets of creative endeavors. This event is an annual spring event that happens in Detroit, and features over 50+ Michigan artists.
The goal of this event is to raise community awareness to all of the amazing women artists in Michigan, and honor all of the different types of art media that these women use to pursue their artistic ambitions and careers. The event also aims to raise awareness to women in need, and finding new ways to give back to the community. A portion of ticket sales gets donated to Alternatives for Girls (http://alternativesforgirls.org/) which is an organization that helps homeless and high-risk girls and young women avoid violence, teen pregnancy and exploitation, and helps them to explore and access the support, resources and opportunities necessary to be safe, to grow strong and to make positive choices in their lives. AFG accomplishes this mission through three key services: AFG Prevention, the AFG Shelter/Transition to Independent Living Program (TIL) and AFG Outreach. Venus Rising has also collaborated with organizations such as Burners without Borders, and For the Love of Humanity (Oakland University) in providing more resources to a broader reach of people.
The 8th Annual Venus Rising: all women art exhibition will be held in April 2020 – Detroit
